Quick thoughts about Aftermarket ECU's vs OEM (for Genesis Coupes)

My thoughts on Haltech vs reflash tunes (applies to both 2.0T and 3.8, cept GDi 3.8s are a bit screwed)
I tune both ECUs, and I'll tell you what I think, which you will obviously quickly discard and say something:
You CAN run 600whp on a stock ECU, sure. You can run E85 on stock ECU (without flex fuel), sure. But you CAN'T have a MAP sensor reading 3.5bars of boost and have active boost correction. You can't have flat foot shift, you can't have ignition-retarding launch control, you can't have wideband O2 targets. You can't have closed loop boost targets using the ECU itself.
A stock ECU works fine until a certain point, but there comes a time when the engine stops being what the 5,500 page manual for the SIM2K (which I have) describes it was designed for. And that's why a Haltech in big builds is a pretty good choice in my opinion, all things considered.
and all tunes turn off the stock overboost protection, as far as I have seen. and, BK1s only have a 2.5bar so they can't compensate past 21.5psi, which, when people push them past that, means the last row of calibration is what is ran during whatever peak boost your car is making, meaning that there is no change to fueling or timing past the max MAP reading, which can be frighteningly dangerous.
